Introduction

Welcome to Invasive Insight!

Here will be the analysis of invasive species and around influential invasive species of particular interest to the Pacific Northwest.  We will analyze a few key statistics and review several aspects that influence the spread of these invasives including rural versus urban conditions, as well as the transference between the two.

But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, first you may ask: what is an invasive species?  Many believe that if a plant or animal is moved away from its native origins, that the organism would be considered 'invasive' but this is simply not the case.  the term 'Invasive Species' can be seen as non-natives whose introduction can/does cause environmental, or economic harm.  Seems simple enough right? there are a few cases where an invasive species is actually doing some good as well, maybe even for a native endangered species.

Still, it is an important to note that most invasive species are more harm than good, especially while their effect on the environment remains unchecked.

Go ahead and browse around the pages on the right to see some different factors that affect Invasives globally, as well as a look into different specific species we manage locally.
